Douglas Keeve captures the glamour and mayhem of high fashion in this eye-popping documentary (which nabbed the Audience Award honors at the Sundance Film Festival) that follows designer Isaac Mizrahi as he puts together his 1994 runway collection to be presented during New York's fall shows. Features appearances by supermodels Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford.
Also features stunning appearances by Sandra Bernhard, Mark Morris, Eartha Kitt, and Robert Best (of later Project Runway fame - he was a Mizrahi assistant). This was really well done - no implied commentary forom the filmmakers, the story just plays out in all the fabulous drama. I have always liked Mizrahi - now more so. This is an old film, but still around on netflix, etc. Mizrahi imiitating Mark Morris' Bach dance (from the cello concerto collaboration with YoYo Ma) is also priceless. The fact that I recognized it right away was a little surprising. But my artistic viewing is strating to seem like one continuous film. Perhaps all New York artists are indeed in one club?
